The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. ~ Gandhi

When I will be 95 ...

...

I want to be like my great-nanny. And you?

In Poland on January 21st we celebrate Grandmother's Day and on 22nd the Grandfather's.

I'm that lucky that today I can also give a hug to my great-grandma and between the lines of exclaimed wishes show her discreetly that there are also her favourite chocolates hidden in a gift bag.

Her person doesn't stop shocking me and every time we see each other I'm even more awed. But today, especially, when I sat so close to her and looked how bride is her smile I whispered to myself decisively: If I somehow go through over 90 primes of life, I want to take a leaf out of her book. I want to be like her, at least a bit.

Actually, I can learn to be like you right now, Nanny. I believe we all can.

I want to have this sense of humour no matter what, which will discourage me to any kind of everyday complaining.

I want to remember all important birthdays, anniversaries and events which took place in my family, including the details as they create more alive images.

I want to be as grateful as you are, despite the conditions, when saying:

At least, I still know what's going on around me.

I want to have tidy hair, fashionable teacup, good perfume and well-softened palms and face as a woman should take care of herself and look good even if it was only for herself.

Despite the fact that the forests you've loved wandering in are now too rough for your tired legs, and sounds you hear are not as clear as they used to be then, you stay positive and can thank for what you have and for the people who are around.

I bet you will never read this post by yourself, but be sure your motivational attitude is the best thing that happened to this blog today.

I can't wait for the big interview we've just set to make soon, which I suggest anyone doing in their families - in order to find the roots and grow them again. I strongly believe some inspirational pieces from my writing of those spoken stories of yours will find a place also on this page.

For now on, I'm leaving its readers with the first impression. You did so well. Congrats.

To my Great-Nanny Anne, with love

Julia xxx
